Maksym Shalak

I’m a Senior Backend and GIS Developer at Kuva Space, and my main focus is the Kuva Sense platform. I work on the technical implementation of the platform, including how imagery is displayed, how downloads are configured, and how access and image processing are managed. A big part of my work involves handling geospatial data, and I especially enjoy working with imagery and making large volumes of satellite data usable in practice.

What I enjoy most about my work is everything connected to geospatial data, image processing, and high-volume data processing. There are always new challenges, new ideas, and new ways to apply satellite data to different use cases, which keeps the work interesting.

What first got me excited about space was science fiction. I’ve always been a fan, and that sparked my curiosity about space and related technologies. Outside of work, I enjoy computer games and movie nights.
