Joel Lavikainen

I design electronics for satellites at Kuva Space. I work on the satellite’s control system, which processes camera data, and I design the circuit boards that serve as the satellite's “brains.” I really enjoy being part of building technology that plays such an important role in our missions.

We have a warm and collaborative team here at Kuva Space, and there is a real sense that we are all working towards the same goal. The environment is relaxed, the days are varied, and there is always humor along the way. It is genuinely nice to come to the office.

Outside of work, I love tinkering, and I usually have a thousand projects going on at once. I enjoy designing electronics at home, playing with 3D printers, hiking, and even making my own outdoor gear.
