Riku Peltonen
Mechanical EngineerI work on satellite mechanical design at Kuva Space, focusing on the satellite's structure, mechanical holders for different subsystems, and assembly/ support jigs. My work mainly focuses on the parts and components that need to be manufactured from different metals by machining. A lot of my days are spent doing 3D modeling in Creo, but I also build prototypes, use 3D printing, laser cutting, and other prototyping methods, order parts from suppliers, and test how everything performs.
One of the best things about working here is the variety. In addition to design work, I get to assemble, prototype, and work with my hands, which makes the job especially rewarding. It’s pretty cool to see parts I’ve designed become real and go into orbit. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time in nature with my dog.
