Joshua Bernard-Cooper

I’m a Satellite Operations Software Developer at Kuva Space, where I build and maintain the software used to operate our satellites, because getting to orbit is only half the job! My work includes developing fleet control systems, automating payload scheduling and telemetry management, and optimizing the database and API infrastructure that makes it all possible. In my day-to-day work, I primarily use Python, Bash, Git, SQL, Docker, and the Unix command line.

I joined Kuva Space because I saw strong potential in the company and was excited by the opportunity to help build a larger constellation from an early stage. Kuva had already achieved so much, and I wanted to be part of that journey. The company culture also stood out to me from the beginning: there’s a high level of trust, a healthy work-life balance, and a genuine respect for each person’s experience and perspective.

Outside of work, I enjoy gardening and cooking, as well as hiking and camping. I’m also passionate about reading, gaming, and creative hobbies such as photography, drawing, and writing.
