Eric Brune

I'm a Data Scientist at Kuva Space. Most of my work revolves around data preprocessing, as well as architectural design, training and evaluation of deep learning models. My tasks can be summarized as follows: we have lots of data, along with questions to which we or others want answers. My job is to develop models that can autonomously make predictions about the data to answer such questions, after which I try to evaluate how good their predictions are, to ensure they are providing calibrated insights.

Being a nerd in space, geoinformatics and deep learning, it's hard to imagine a better place to work! The tasks are interesting, and I get to explore different avenues for solving a problem. Having a background in research helps quite a bit, and being able to use that in my everyday work is great.

Outside of work I like to go hiking, hang out with friends and family, play video games, and read. I also play some sports when I find the time, such as squash, badminton and disc golf.
