Remote Sensing Specialist – Data and AnalyticsI’m a Remote Sensing Specialist at Kuva Space. In a nutshell, I do research, data gathering, and development on new analytical products. A lot of my job is planning and carrying out field projects to collect hyperspectral data, using airborne platforms such as drones, helicopters, or airplanes. We also use field spectrometers and do sampling, depending on the needs of the project. The point is, I spend a lot of time outside in the sunshine, which is one of the best things about my job.
More generally, I like how dynamic the work is and how there’s always something new to learn; we work in a rapidly changing environment using technology that keeps improving, so we have to stay on our toes a lot. Over the past two years, I’ve learned a huge amount, and the work has really supported my growth and kept me developing. I'm outside my comfort zone a lot, which must mean I'm in the right place.
Outside of work, I produce music and do some street photography. I also play “mölkky”, and my friends and I even have our own league. On top of that, I enjoy playing different sports like basketball and tennis. I'm terrible at them, but I have fun, so I consider that a win.
