Francesco Scarlatti

I’m a Calibration and Validation Engineer in Kuva Space’s Data Quality team. My work sits between the camera, product, and AI teams, where I focus on image quality, camera specifications, and developing our own testing methods. I’m part of the quality assurance pipeline that helps make sure the images we deliver are as useful as possible. A big part of my work is removing atmospheric effects from the data so we can focus on the ground signal we’re actually interested in. I also take part in lab experiments and help coordinate them.

When I joined Kuva Space, what stood out to me was the huge potential of the company and the level of professionalism here. For me, the best thing about working at Kuva Space is the environment. It’s the best place I’ve ever worked. People are highly skilled, well connected, and genuinely appreciated, and there’s a very positive attitude alongside a healthy work-life balance. I’ve also had the chance to grow here and bring in my own ideas, which really matters to me.

Outside of work, I enjoy photography, especially street photography, and Helsinki is a great city for that. I also like beach volleyball, and cooking is one of the ways I relax. Sicilian pasta is a favorite, and I also enjoy growing my own herbs.
