As a Mechanical Engineer in Kuva Space, you'll be instrumental in shaping the future of our satellite platforms. You will be responsible for co-designing microsatellites, ranging from individual parts to complex assemblies. The ideal candidate is a skilled engineer with experience in CAD design and manufacturing, capable of guiding projects through the entire lifecycle of satellite design—from initial concepts and prototypes to final flight models. We are looking for a team member with passion for creating high-quality technology, coupled with a keen attention to detail.
Mechanical Engineer (Satellite design & manufacturing)
Position: Full time
Location: Otakaari 5, Espoo, Finland
Office presence required with possibility for hybrid work

Key Responsibilities:
- Co-Develop & Design: Create and refine 3D parts and assemblies for our satellite platforms.
- Innovate Tools: Design and produce jigs and tools essential for lab work and production.
- Collaborate: Partner with supply chain and manufacturing experts to ensure parts are manufacturable.
- Prototype & Test: Develop prototypes and test assemblies of satellite platforms and mechanisms.
- Environmental Testing: Arrange setups for environmental tests, focusing on vibration and deployment mechanisms.
- Document: Generate detailed 2D documentation for the manufacturing and assembly process.
- Teamwork: Work closely with our satellite team, including specialists in AIT, space systems engineering, and design.
Stellar Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field.
- Experience: 3 years in 3D CAD modeling using PTC CREO, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, or equivalent software.
- Technical Expertise: Proven experience designing high-quality CNC-machined parts.
- Practical Skills: Hands-on prototyping process, with the ability to bring concepts to life.
- Material Knowledge: Familiarity with metals, polymers, and their coatings.
- Quality Focus: Expertise in GD&T, crucial for designing objects traveling over 7 km/s in space.
- Communication: Strong skills in communication and teamwork, with English as the working language. Finnish is a plus.
Preferred Superpowers (Considered a Plus):
- Experience with PTC CREO.
- Proficiency in both static and dynamic simulation software.
- Hands-on know-how in CNC machining.
- Background in aerospace systems and environmental testing.
- Skills in designing for additive manufacturing.
- Insight or interest in PLM, Top-down Assembly design, and MBD.
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and multitasking abilities.
- Quick learner, self-motivated, and thriving under pressure.
- Office presence required (Espoo)
